Machel Montano HD celebrated 25 years in the business in style in the Big Apple! TJJ covered everything from his Press Party, to the two sold out concerts at Madison Square Garden, to the official After Party to his Album Release Party at Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in Manhattan. The Prince of Senegal, Akon was at the Zen nightclub, Trinidad during the month of April. And the night's activities quickly became big news the very next day! [View Coverage]

The Plymouth Jazz Festival 2007 took place from April 27th-29th and was a spectacular and memorable weekend in Tobago with a star-studded cast... Reggae star Buju Banton made his way to Madison Square Garden, NYC on Sun May 6th. He was joined by other artists such as Da'Ville, Lady Saw, Tony Matterhorn and the legendary Shabba Ranks. TJJ coverage will be posted soon.

Thank You Mama

This past Sunday (May 13th) we celebrated Mother's Day and TJJ would like to take a moment to recognize all the mothers out there, and especially pay tribute to the mothers that made our generation who we are.

To the mothers who learn early on to "expect the unexpected", especially if she has boy children, and that only the good Lord himself could give her the patience and a sense of humour she would definitely need for this job. To the mothers who knew that to spare the "rod" was to spoil the child, but that a little love and attention goes a long way. To the mothers that understood that Sunday lunch around the table gave us more than nutrition.

We could tell you stories about big men – round the age of about 16, 17 or so – who feel they big... playing man, getting in trouble in school. Invincible until some smart teacher decide to call in Mummy. And all of a sudden, man who fearless before, spot Mummy in the principal office and tears start to flow instantly. You know what time it is... Mummy don't play.

Mummy always made sure you know the right way, even if you decide to detour and take the fun way for a minute. To raise you right, so that one day, Mummy could sit back and laugh when your own children teaching you the same lessons you taught her!

So in remembrance of all that Mummy (and auntie, and tantie, and granny, and Ma) has done for us – we wish you all a Happy Belated Mother's Day! As Sizzla Kalonji sang, "Thank You Mama for the 9 months you carry me thru...." [Watch Video]. Until next time...
