First off, let us put all de rumors to rest, so people could sleep better tonight, Sugar Aloes still alive. De former Calypso Monarch Michael "Sugar Aloes" Osuana do a little show in Antigua dis week, and while boarding de flight back to T&T ent feel too good, so he ask for a little medical attention. By de time morning come and cock crow the radio stations in Antigua done announce how Aloes collapse on stage and dead in surgery! Well boy yuh have to love de small island talk. Aloes get better and come home soon…

As a child growing up in Trinidad everybody should know that when people ask about yuh country yuh does say that it have oil and sugar cane. It seem like finance and ammonia put cane on de back burner these days. Well we ent know who pockets getting big and who have back accounts in foreign, but finally, and they only too proud to announce how much millions they paying out. The state owned Sugar Manufacturers Company Limited (SMCL) is who yuh have to go to "fuh cane" since Caroni close down 3 years ago. This week they supposed to pay out $43 million to farmers for this year harvest. Is just to wonder what they was doing with the $43 million all this time? And what the farmers was doing without it? Now what yuh not hearing is that only $35 million getting shared to 3,500 farmers… fuh who wasn't takin on Uncle Ian on Ricky Ticky when he was showing yuh how tuh count… that is $10,000 a man. It have over 25,000 people dependant on de cane industry, but is no wonder why the 2,500 farmers that already leave is only a growing number.

In an unrelated story the Jamacian Ministry of Agriculture and Lands approve a 100% increase in the box price for cocoa. Is now $1,000.06 ah box up from $500.06.

So we have island food and cultivation on we mind lately... yuh ever go any where in de world (outside de Caribbean) and get a breadfruit? Personally we've been to a few places in we travels and we never. So it was real pleasing to learn dat a UWI professor in Trini, Laura Roberts-Nkrumah joining up with de Jamaica Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, the Northern Caribbean University and the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) to explore the economic potential of de breadfruit. Now, by knowing how you like yuh breadfruit; bake, fry, roast, boil, oil down... they hoping to be able to cultivate it commercially and make it more readily available for you in yuh style. Dat mean that you could go HiLo and buy a pack done slice up how yuh like it. In doing so, we hoping we could soon get some breadfruit ice-cream, cake or even breadfruit flavored skittles (somebody quick... call skittles and tell dem it have a fruit called breadfruit). We have to mention dat Bath Breadfruit Festival in de Parish of St. Thomas, Jamaica is the original breadfruit festival. Held Aug 31st every year we hear is something yuh ent ga want to miss. Over in de land of Flying Fish... Ms Rihanna had was to tell a German Magazine to rock so after she find out that dey want her to go topless for de cover. Known for respecting Alicia Keys for her conservative style Rihanna, tell de press, "I don't like to wear things [that are] too skimpy . . . . If I do shorts on the bottom, it's gotta be something very conservative at the top. If it's skimpy at the top, it's gotta be long jeans or something." Now we ah little confused... is skimpy really a problem for Rihanna? Rihanna you do your ting... we ga still love ya!

Finally, the only thing better than MTV and dey Spaceman is de 4th Annual International Soca Awards 2006. This year it's up in Harlem New York on Fri Sept 8th 2006. And guess what?
