Happy Belated Independence Day to all we American TJJ Fam. It was a weekend in North America of nice hot, sunshine-filled weather, so we know that de BBQ grill an ole cooler must have had a good workout!

A few Days till July 9th and it's all over... yes, World Cup 2006 will be a done deal. Spouses can get their partners back and TV remote monopoly can resume to an even fight. We also continue to send out congratulations to our Soca Warriors. In case you ent read up on de tournament... we own Dwighty get awarded de Best Defensive Player of the Group round by FIFA based on successful tackles and minutes played and if yuh look at more individual performances you can see that Shaka and Carlos have numbers that rank with de best in de World. The soap opera has been great thus far! And like de Young & Restless and Bold & Beautiful, we hope it never ends!! South Africa 2010 we coming! T&T has gained massive respect all over the world as a football and fun-loving partying country. We sure that it still have people all over the world still walking down some cobble stone road singing "3-knee-dad tow-bay-go, oh-oh O ohh!!"

TJJ do we best to take some pictures and videos from z games tuh capture the spirit, but those thousand words just ent enough to express the energy dat was in de air. Horns, whistles, tassa and plenty chanting, beer induced and otherwise. We will testify with no doubt that Trinbagoians were the most loved fans in Germany. At times it was even challenging to decipher who was ah Trini an who was just wearing all kinda T&T paraphernalia. We real like we self. As for supporters, Silver Fox and his other half Oma were spotted in Dortmund on June 10th. Eye witness described Basdeo Panday as looking frail and confused as he asked for directions to his seating section. Later on we learned that on June 15th in Nuremberg they were again spotted, this time appearing more confident as they entered the VIP seating area. We are proud to see that in sickness and health we are all Soca Warriors. In an unrelated story, Ken Lay, founder and vilified former chairman of scandal-ridden Enron, died of a heart attack on Wednesday morning. He was 64.

Finally as we descend (literally) from our football high, we see Trinidad and Tobago back to business as usual. A carjacker put a gun to the head of the 11 year old daughter of Chief Magistrate Sherman McNicolls, (who sentenced Panday with maximum penality for three counts of making false declarations to the Integrity Commission in April), Shermaine. She was able to get out as the Chief Magistrate's cousin-in-law's Lancer was stolen from the parking lot of Seepersad Supermarket, on the Southern Main Road. Within an hour of receiving his instrument of appointment in the Senate, Opposition Senator Dr Shastri Moonan, the cousin of the embattled UNC political leader Winston Dookeran fell asleep. Apparently he has fine company as sleeping both in the House of Representatives and in the Senate is not strange as even Prime Minister Patrick Manning has been known to occasionally bow his head during sittings.
